September 2nd abstract deadline for American Geophysical Union (AGU)
sessions!

Please post to your listserv(s) this call for abstracts for the
following AGU education session. Share it with science educators in
your area and scientists working with science educators.

Consider submitting abstracts to ED17, an education session being
offered for the 8th consecutive year at the American Geophysical Union
(AGU) Fall Meeting in San Francisco, December 13-17, 2010:

“Teacher Professional Development Programs Promoting Authentic
Scientific Research in the Classroom” (Session ED17). Talk about your
professional development program that relates to incorporating
authentic research in the classroom! Share your experiences and learn
about other programs. Past presentations and a more detailed session
description can be seen at: http://www.noao.edu/education/agu/.

For the 8th year in a row, a very “worth-your-while” education
session, ED17, is again being offered at the Fall American Geophysical
Union (AGU) Meeting in San Francisco, December 13-17, 2010.

ED17,“Teacher Professional Development Programs Promoting Authentic
Scientific Research in the Classroom”, will focus on research
experiences for teachers, the roles of scientists and education
specialists, and authentic scientific research in the classroom.
Specifically, abstracts are requested from scientists, education
specialists, and teachers who are or have been directly involved with
teacher-research experiences. Over the years, the programs and
presenters who have contributed to this session benefited from the
presentations and resulting collaborations. Presentations are invited
from any of the scientific disciplines and from previous and new
presenters. Scientist-teacher research teams are particularly
encouraged. Printed materials and CDs supplied by presenters accompany
the session. For details on the session and to view the abstracts,
PowerPoint presentations, and photographs from oral and poster
sessions over the years, visit http://www.noao.edu/education/agu/.

Abstract Deadline: September 2, 2010 (23:59 EDT)

The abstract on-line submission form and submittal instructions are
available from the AGU Web site at http://www.agu.org/meetings/fm10/.
AGU policy allows one "education" abstract to be submitted in addition
to a "science" abstract. If you are not a member of AGU, an AGU member
may sponsor you to submit an abstract. (Contact Connie at [log in to unmask]
