Lisa, I would put some of the oil on a cotton ball, put that on a 
piece of aluminum foil, and heat water in a soda can suspended above 
the flame.  If you contact me off-list, I think I have some photos of 
the apparatus.  You might also try this outdoors first to see how 
smoky the flame is.  It might not work unless you and others have
