Yah BUT…the main problem now is that a minority of the United States population has control of the government via the House of Representatives and the people they represent would just as soon crash everything regardless of the consequences for ideological reasons.

The electoral feedback system is such that a minority of population has a positive feedback loop that amplifies their effectiveness. Under the current system of voter representation, it is not possible to apply pressure in such as way as to cause a correction via elections given the Representative's districts. Clearly, the larger the sample size of the voters, i.e., senator to president, the more reflective of the "will of the people." This government only works as long as representatives agree to negotiate settlements and abide by votes of the political majority. Whether it's impeding the creation of an affordable care medical service, or stopping the construction of a national nuclear waste repository, it is possible for minority positions to prevail causing harm to the Nation.

This is going to roll for a period independently of my representatives.
