Many thanks, Jeff.  Silocone and various epoxies may also be available
in the city.  Tarantulas are actually too cool and quite pacific; I've
become very fond of them.  On the other hand, there are a ton of
leaf-eating things I'd like to stow away at this point for show and
tell.  "Pleasing beetles" are not so pleasing to the reforestation
effort!  Two more weeks in the Amazon for a while...
