not so much blue and red, as dark red ( non-oxygenated) to bright red -oxygenated.
The "blue" veins is mostly the colour of the vessels + a little contribution from the darker red -slightly more purple de-oxygenated blood.

in some animals ( crustaceans) the haemoglobin uses cobalt not iron and they have electric light blue tinted blood....

OK, folks. Some debate was going on, and (go figure) online searching
revealed much baldly contradictory info. So let me ask the esteemed
