I was impressed when I attended this school's official opening two years ago
by Yuri Lushkov, the Mayor of Moscow.

The school also has larger science interactives scattered around the
building, principally for 'accidental encounters' as you put it. For example
there are several in the entrance foyer, a giant coil-spring 'wave-machine'
runs along the side of a corridor at waist-height and younger pupils enjoy a
large open water-play feature (as seen in some large science centres) in an
area where two corridors meet.

I supplied about thirty of my tabletop 'mini-interactives' and they tested
them in several locations in the school before putting them in the library.
Again, they are intended (and were selected) as part of a stimulating
learning environment, not specifically as formal teaching aids, though of
course they are also useful in the classroom.

The computers seen in the movie were part of the library and not
intentionally linked with the interactives.

Ian,

Are the computers providing prompts for the interaction, or are they simply
sharing table space? How are the interactives intended to be used? (ie are
they built into the curriculum or are they intended to foster "accidental"
encounters with science?)

Thanks,
Dave
