ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.
*****************************************************************************

The Franklin Institute has a history of work focused on the cultivation of family engagement in science across informal and formal settings. Three NSF-funded programs are especially relevant: Girls At the Center (GAC), a national collaboration to encourage family involvement in girls' science learning, which began in 1996 and has produced a project publication “Girls and Adults Learning Science TOGETHER” that makes the program and curricular resources available to youth-serving organizations and institutions; Parent Partners in School Science (PPSS), a Philadelphia-based initiative designed to provide a proof-of-concept of the ways in which an informal science center can function as a facilitator for parental support of the K-4 school science instructional program; and LEAP into Science: A National Museum/Library Collaboration, which is building a model partnership to promote family and after-school student engagement and achievement in science and literacy, through the connection of science activities and children’s books. Please feel free to contact me should you have additional questions.
