ASTC is partnering with UNESCO on this occasion and will participate in several initiatives to promote understanding of the role of water-and education about it-for the creation of a sustainable planet. The first step in this process is to create an overview and an interactive map of what exhibitions or programs ASTC-member institutions are doing that have water as their focus, whether or not they were designed specifically for the UN celebration. Last year's Google map on global activities in support of the Planet under Pressure conference prior to the Rio+20 Earth Summit was a huge success and is still considered by the research community as one of the major achievements of t hat conference, and this time we want to do even better. The map will be hosted on a UNESCO web page devoted to the International Year, and it will allow visitors to get more than just a dot and an address. We hope to collect information to allow visitors to really discover the depth of what we can offer as a field. As a start, we are asking our members to send us links to their online resources about water so that we can get an idea of the type and volume of activities, which will help us design the concept of the web page, as well suggest additional activities to the field for the International Year. Please send information about your programs or exhibitions to Jin A Kim at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>. We will evaluate the material within the next two weeks and share the findings and next steps with our members.
