ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

When I evaluated the Museum Tech Academy at the Illinois State Museum,
they used Moodle to organize and facilitate both staff communication/pd
and student project-based learning. That program still stands out for me
as an example of technology being able to both promote communication and
shift the focus to learners learning rather than teachers teaching.
Because Moodle includes multiple applications (e.g. chat, quizes, email,
blog space, calendar, file storage), it can bring together multiple
media and coordinate use and communication among many people across
time. I really think this is an under-used program. It is open-source
and free, but it is a server-based application. It can also be set up
for privacy.

It's only occasionally when meeting in person on Saturday, our regular meeting day, is not possible (or, more often, more than our over-worked staff can handle). I've also assigned them as a bit of homework online video's to watch in preparation for meetings.
