We've also used Lego Mindstorms for the past 7 years, and have several different robotics programs to offer. A 1-hr program for k-4, and a 2-hr program for 5-12. The 1-hr program and materials for k-4 works great!

We offer LEGo Mindstorm programming for middle and high school and it is a 90 minute program. We are just looking into the WeDo kits as we are getting requests for robotic programming for younger and younger audiences. If we begin offering robotics for the 3rd-5th grades we may want to consider a 45 minute program but that is not very much time. Then 90 minutes is a long time to keep them in engaged in a school group tri when they want to do IMAX, the rest of the exhibits, eat lunch and be back at school by 2:00 :)

May not be much help but at least you know we are all in the same boat!

Several years ago, NSF funded a collaborative project between MIT, the Science museum of Minnesota, the American Visionary Art Center, The Lemelson Center, The Exploratorium and the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History (please forgive me if I left anyone out!) It was called the Playful Invention and Exploration (PIE) Network. You may wish to contact any of them to find out about their experiences with Lego/Logo based materials.

I was leaning towards the PicoCrickets to attract a broader audience into engineering design activities and because it might work in a short period (1 hour) with school groups. Is anyone using either of the other two platforms in a similar time frame?
