The US House is considering a bill that would create copyright protection for collections of basic facts, like phone books. Or Encyclopedias. They would allow corporations to hold basic facts hostage, crippling students and teachers from being able to do basic research. And, unlike copyright that lasts for a mere 70 years after the death of the author, this new protection would last forever.
Dare I suggest a political action? Write your congressperson and senators, and suggest this bill die early and often?
