Well, its always a pleasure to come back from AAM all-day discussions  
about the future of museums to the quotidian:

We are having a devil of a time with our bubble table on a carpeted  
floor:

1) the carpet gets gunky
2) The carpet pulls up and creates a trip hazard
3) The bubble solution is tracked throughout the whole level of the  
museum, and can't be readily cleaned whether wet or dry.

Any brilliant ideas?
