Need some expertise!

We're working on an exhibit on the sun, where a backlit image of a
"sunspotty" sun is displayed. In a basket will be large pieces of a jigsaw
puzzle. The puzzle pieces are of the radio sun from the same date. By
overlaying the puzzle pieces onto the optical image, you will easily see
that the bright spots in the radio picture correlate with the location of
the sunspots in the optical picture.

Now, here's where I need some advice. The radio puzzle pieces need to be
translucent. How can I adhere a transparent image to plexi or some such to
create the puzzle pieces?

Thanks for any suggestions!!
