At the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History, we recently sponsored a 5-lecture series called "Beyond Diffusion: The Science of Science Education." "Beyond Diffusion" is an extension of the Smithsonian vision for the "increase and diffusion of knowledge". One of our curators noted that "diffusion" sounded very passive and joined us in thinking about how to spark conversations about the active nature of learning in informal contexts - and leading thinking on it - at the Smithsonian and other museums.

The result was the lecture series that featured 5 people I think fit in with the request for thought leaders in informal education/learning:

Bruce MacFadden
Martin Storksdieck
Phil Bell
John Falk
Margaret Evans

Note that we bookended the series with researchers on learning evolution in science museums, specifically, as that is a core topic for us at the museum.

If you're interested in the series, videos of the lectures and Q&A sessions are posted online:

Apologies for duplication (I've sent this to a couple of lists)

And I've deliberately left this non-specific!
