Job Title: Project Manager - Explore the Universe

Project Summary:
Chabot Space & Science Center was awarded a grant to develop and implement
an exciting teacher training program entitled "Explore the Universe:
Incorporating Astronomy into Elementary School Classrooms Through Intensive
Teacher Training." The overall goal of the project is to increase elementary
teachers' and students' knowledge of and interest in astronomy and space
related topics.

Position Summary:
Chabot Space & Science Center is seeking an enthusiastic, organized,
experienced project manager to oversee a grant-funded program. Under the
direction of the Director of Programs, the Project Manager is responsible
for all aspects of implementing and managing a teacher training program
funded by the U. S. Department of Education, including staffing, curriculum
development, supervision, evaluation, budget, and reports. This is a
two-year grant-funded position. However, the position is based on
availability of funding. This is a .5 FTE position, with more time required
at the front end. Hours are flexible.

Essential Functions:
-Recruit and select school participants
-Identify and supervise appropriate support staff
-Research existing astronomy education resources
-Develop a weeklong, standards-based astronomy curriculum for third and
fifth grades
-Develop an "Explore the Universe Fair" for elementary schools
-Supervise intensive training for third and fifth grade teachers at school
sites.
-Develop an on-line training course for future use.
-Oversee project evaluation
-Oversee project budget
-Other duties as assigned by the Director of Programs

Special Skills:
-Decisive and works well under pressure.
-Ability to coordinate multiple activities
-Background and/or experience in K-14 education.
-Understanding of and experience in teacher professional development.
-Strong organizational skills.
-Good oral and written communication skills.
-Excellent leadership skills.
-Ability to establish good working relationships with many different people.

-Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, MS Outlook.
-California Driver's License

Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in education, science or related field.
-Minimum of three years project management experience.
-Two years teaching experience required.
-Teaching/administrative credentials, a plus.

Salary: $25/hour
