Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Well, the granddaddy of them all would be the creation of Andrew Carnegie in Pittsburgh in 1895! His Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh began with a few museum galleries which soon expanded into The Carnegie Museum of Natural History (with one of the best dinosaur collections in the world) and The Carnegie Museum of Art (home of the Carnegie International exposition).

Over the years, the management of these organizations has changed. The Museums began as a "department" of the Library (originally, Carnegie Mellon University also began as a "department" of the Library, originally called the Carnegie Technical Schools). Today, the Library and Museums have separate management and boards but continue to share a huge monumental and historic building in the Oakland Civic Center section of the city.
