ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Becky,

For a grant program where we were working with low income city students
(middle school age), we provided free student bus passes (free to them, not
to us!). The city bus system sent a staff person to our family orientation
night, and that person helped students figure out their bus routes. They
also provided system maps, etc. The bus system people were very helpful.

For a different phase of the same program where we were working with low
income rural students, we provided a small weekly transportation stipend to
parents to off-set the cost of driving their student in to town. They were
appreciative.

Hope this helps!

Beth

students and am running into a logistics nightmare with the transportation
issue. How are other science centers or museums getting students from
schools to their sites for after school programs and then home after? How
about Saturday programs? Three of the schools we would like to include are
magnet schools, so a percentage of those students are from all over the
county. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
