You could actually take it out into the field with you to explore all sorts
of things since its light is battery powered.
We used them in Acton all the time  --- they hold up to many hands!

Connecticut Valley Biological Supply also sells a liquid/specimen container
like a small plastic test tube that tapers to a thin flat optically clear
viewing area that can be used with microscopes.  (Alas no picture in their
online catalog to link to.)
