ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Hello!
We have an opportunity for exhibit designers to pitch in some interesting
ideas around exhibits we're buidling at The Tech in San Jose about
microchips. Through our "open source" program, individuals can contribute
designs for exhibits and obtain feedback and work towards an award of
$600.USD for approaches used.

There are two exhibits being created - one about transistors and another
about microchip processor speeds.
The deadline for entry is *Wed. Nov. 25 *(yes it's soon!) to obtain full
feedback and Wed. Dec. 23 for all entries.

Guidance and feedback is a crucial part of the process so it's important to
start now (even if it's only a sketch idea).
Exhibits can be moved to fabrication at any time, so start as soon as
possible.

This should be rather straightforward for anyone with exhibit experience.
We've really narrowed the approaches, so all you have to do is show us how
to make it spectacular! I'm here to help with any questions too on a daily
basis.

*Steps to participate:*
1. Read the design brief for this project at:
    http://thetechvirtual.org/projects/integrated-circuits
2. Start a project using the "Create Project" button at

http://thetechvirtual.org/projects/integrated-circuits/integrated-circuits-projects
3. Upload sketches, screenshots of models, flowcharts or any other
collateral to document your approach.
Use tools and methods you have available. We offer free building space
in Second Life virtual world for
making models. Participants have also used Google Sketchup, hand
sketches, or other drawing tools.

Again, we're offering a reward of $600. USD for approaches used.
Not only that, but you can work in teams of up to 3 persons and earn up to
$1800. USD for exhibits put into production!

There is some competition - we've already received some great entries - but
there's still room for thorough, solid approaches to these topics.
This is a fun opportunity to be creative, and maybe build a great portfolio
piece through the connection.

I'm available to answer any questions at [log in to unmask] or 408-795-6267
during bus. hours pacific time.
Let me know how I can help!
Best,
Bob Ketner
