Hello Folks,

We're currently brainstorming materials for a grade 3 program where students
will have to 'build for sound', i.e. building structures that either
increase or decrease sound intensity.  We're in the early development phase,
but we could use some suggestions.

We were considering the use of sound meters, so students had a means to
assess how the sound was interacting with the material they were building
with (i.e. Does building a metal wall around a noise maker lead to an
increase or decrease in sound intensity?).  If you can answer any of the
following that would great!

SOUND METER QUESTIONS:
Has anyone programmed or developed with sound meters?  Which ones did you
use?  How much where they?  Did you purchase commercial/industrial sound
meters or something made specifically for educational purposes?  How many
students were able to work with the sound meter?  What grade/age were these
students?  How many buttons were on the interface?  Did you prefer analog
versus digital reading sound meters?  Did you use the sound meters in other
programs?  How?

Or has anyone ever *wanted* to use a sound meter in a sound program, but
then realized* that they didn't need it* to accomplish their programming
goals?   Feedback on this situations would be great as well.
