It is a bit different from what you've asked for, but I've produced an
interactive where visitors waggle a rotating knob to-and-fro to waggle a
large, projected scanning electron microscope image of a fruit-fly
to-and-fro, rotating it in three dimensions. The projected image could be as

The only problem I have with your concept is the idea of presenting a fly as
something gross. Insects are awesomely beautiful!
