I would like to take a break from the very important, but intense,
discussions surrounding the role of professional archaeologists proposal.

It seems early to make preparations for the 1998 meetings of the SHA in
Atlanta, but now is the best time to begin some preparations. In order to
facilitate student attendance at the meeting, the student affairs
subcommittee is offering a "roommate wanted" listing service for the
meeting. While student members counted for a very significant portion of
the attendees in Corpus Christi, the committee felt that perhaps more
students would attend if they could find people to share the financial
burden of their hotel room and/or travel ahead of time.

Our brainstorming resulted in the following offer:

1. If you want to attend the meeting, and are looking for one, two, three
or more roommates to split the cost of a room (last SAA I shared with
seven at one point, and it was still outrageous!)

[ let me know if you are male/female, do you wish to share with
male/female/either, and if you are a smoker]
OR

2. If you will be driving to or from the meeting and are looking for a
passenger to split gas or a rider to split gas/driving....
[Let me know if you are a driver/rider, city of origin]

Send the information to me at one of the addresses below. I
will not guarantee your roommate will be a compatible match. I will not
guarantee you will get along with your driving partner. I will not
guarantee anything, but that I hope to provide you with a person to help
share your costs.

Another announcement will appear in the forthcoming newsletter issue, but
please pass on this announcement to other student members or anyone else
who might take advantage of this resource.

Warm Regards,

Tim Scarlett
