As it turns out, I was misinformed. I am only reimbursed after the fact
— but I am reimbursed for all expenses!

In the past, however, we could only go to one out-of-state conference
every 3-4 years. It is nice that this one is in New Mexico, only a
four-hour drive for me. The Powers-That-Be laughed when I suggested
that the conference in London might be a good idea.

Nice! Pay for everything, and in advance? My university has never paid
for
anything more than round trip coach airfare, on a reimbursement after
the
fact basis, and believe me, I get no perks from being a committee chair
for
SHA (nor should I)—pay my own banquet and registration and
everything
(except that coach class airfare). Maybe I've been working in the
wrong
place all these years!
