Somehow I missed the original post to which the excerpted material below was
apparently a reply, but I think I got the drift.  You can find the Florida
Underwater Archaeological Preserves, and all our other web pages at

Ed Mueller is indeed the best source for Florida steamboating.  He has most
recently published on the Suwannee River, I believe, and there is also a
book on the Apalachicola but I can't remember the title.  You can reach the
Florida State Library  online by truncating the above URL after divisions
and selecting the Archives and Library button on the Web page.  Check for
steamboats, and I believe you will find many good titles.  We have a fair
amount of unpublished information on Suwannee River steamboats now preserved
archaeologically from the study to select the Hawkinsville preserve.
Finally, the Florida Photographic Archives contains a great collection of
old steamship photos, most supplied by Ed Mueller.  They can also be
contacted through the divisions web page, I believe.  If not, send me a
message and I will supply better information.
