Interesting question on the age of coins in circulation, but I think the  
banks routinely collect older damaged coins and return them to the Treasury  
folks. I have been wondering about the age of coins in streets, as none I ever  
picked up were more than a decade old. I suspect the only really old coins in  
criculation would be the nickels because they were the last to change  metals.
