Dear Collegues:

I would like to inform you of the National Park Service's 2003 workshop on
archeological prospection techniques entitled "Current Archeological
Prospection Advances for Non-destructive Investigations in the 21st
Century." The workshop will be held May 19-23, 2003, at the Cahokia Mounds
State Historic Site in Collinsville, Illinois. This will be the thirteenth
year of the workshop dedicated to the use of geophysical, aerial
photographic, and other remote sensing methods as they apply to the
identification, evaluation, conservation, and protection of archeological
resources across this Nation. The workshop this year will focus on data
processing and interpretation in addition to the more basic topics
involving the theory of operation, survey methodology, and hands-on use of
the equipment in the field. There is a $475.00 tuition cost to cover
instructors' travel and expenses as well as the production costs of the
workbook and handouts. The workshop is open to all professional
archeologists and students both in this country and across the world. It
is also open to professional from other disciplines including forensics,
law enforcement, and environmental fields. Anyone with a general interest
in archeology and the non-invasive evaluation of archeological resources is
also welcome. If you know of others that may be interested in the
workshop, please pass this information along to them. For further
information and registration forms, contact Steven L. DeVore, Archeologist,

revamping our web site so it may be a while before it is up and running
again. As far as I know it should be online by the first of the year.)
