I found one in the deposits of a tavern turned fur trading station at
Arkansas Post. The deposits are mostly late 18th and early 19th century
in age. My MA thesis was published in 1978 by the Arkansas
Archeological Survey, Research Series Number 11, and illustrates the
find. The seal is similar to yours, but from Marseilles. A Bordeaux
seal was reported by Mendel Peterson, 1969, History Under the Sea: a
manual for underwater exploration. Smithsonian Press.

I've seen reference to these in later contexts (1860s to 1870s) but has anyone seen this mark in 1830s to 40s contexts? I've tried googling it, but can't seem to drill down beyond the many recipes employing olive oil and Bordeaux wines.
