Is it bisque fired or does it have glaze? It appears to have some
coloring.   It looks all the world lies an art nouveau tea pot spout.
If it is not glazed but bisque fired it could be a nonfunctional but
decorative piece. If it is very hard white paste it may be Parian.

Subject: Mystery Object: Pipe or Spout

Dear Histarchers,

I have a mystery object question. We found a clay artifact that looks as
though it might be a large pipe, or possibly some kind of spout. It came
out of a context which is full of material dating to the 1870s, along
with several other more conventional clay pipes. I would appreciate any
ideas on this one. Images can be found here:
