This may be a bigger assemblage than you know. When I retired in 1998, there
were over 16,000 archaeological sites recorded in San Diego County (about
4,000 square miles of territory) and the County Planning Department had over
2,000 archaeology reports in file cabinets (none published to my knowledge).
Those reports filled about 36 linear feet. That would be an awful lot of
scanning. And, the South Coastal Information Center probably has double that size
of collection for all the cities.
