Sent to the HistArch List at the request of the Beads-L List
Smoke,
Could you pass the following along to the Hist-Arch list-serv? That
would be super!!
Thanks!
Alice
For those of you who might be interested in North American Indian
history, and especially Northwest history, I wanted to bring to the
attention of this group a very interesting book produced by the Fish
and Wildlife Service here in the Portland area and written by Dr.
Robert Boyd. It’s on the people at the confluence of the Columbia and
Willamette Rivers and their interactions with white fur traders and
others during the period 1792-1860. Dr. Boyd has packed the book with
maps and references to the writings and drawings of various people who
came through here during that time period and it makes for fascinating
reading. And the best part is that there’s no charge for the book! All
you have to do is write and let Virginia Parks know you’d like a copy.
You can reach her at [log in to unmask] (There’s an underscore
between her first and last name.) Tell her Alice Scherer told you.

In other news, the wolves and coyotes have finished investigating
a break-in at the henhouse. The fox has been cleared.
