Hi, Ron,

There are a number of local historic preservation plans on-line, but it
takes a bit of searching. Check out the local government web sites at
www.icma.org/Govsites to access a range of possibilities (they can be hard
to find, but are typically found by searching under planning departments,
historic preservation, comprehensive plan, and other similar key
words/phrases).

The City of Burbank has a stand-alone preservation plan, on-line at
www.burbankca.org/planning/history/pdf/hpp.pdf. I don't know of other
California examples, but maybe you'll be able to find more on the ICMA web
site.

The City of Mesa, Arizona's stand-alone preservation plan was made part of
the city's General Plan by city council resolution -- see
www.cityofmesa.org/redevlmt/pdf/hpplan.pdf.

Three local comprehensive plans from Colorado may be of interest -- Bounder
County at www.co.boulder.co.us/lu/cult_res.htm; City of Aspen at
www.aspenpitkin.com/pdfs/depts/41/aacp.pdf; and City of Denver at
www.denvergov.org/CompPlan2000/PLAN2000/LEGACIES.pdf.

There are also a number in Washington State, such as City of Olympia at
www.olympiawa.gov/cityservices/historicpreservation/Historic+Preservation+Assessment+and+Action+Plan.htm;
and the City of Seattle at
www.seattle.gov/DPD/Planning/Seattle_s_Comprehensive_Plan/ComprehensivePlan/default.asp
 (see the Cultural Resources Element).

If you're interested in neighborhood/district preservation plans, you may
want to check out the City of Fort Wayne, Indiana, West Central
Neighborhood at www.westcentralneighborhood.org/WCNA_Plan.pdf; the City of
Vancouver, Washington, Hough Neighborhood at
www.ci.vancouver.wa.us/upload/contents/306/HoughNAP_1996.pdf; or the City
of Seattle, Washington, Parks and Recreation Historic Resources Plan at
www.wi.seattle.wa.us/parks/publications/HistoricResourcesPlan/htm.

Good luck!
