Actually, that website came up No 3 when googling "brass monkey
derivation," so it was no trouble at all.  Took about 30 seconds to find
and scan content for applicability--about twice the time it should have
taken me, but I found the metric terms confusing and had to go to an

Ok, so there were no "brass monkeys" in English nautical terms. And, the
truly brass monkeys had no testicles and were not sailors. Got it. Takes a
lot
of brass to research a topic like that, thanks Virgil.
