Position available: LABORATORY COORDINATOR, ANTHROPOLOGY, UNIVERSITY OF
DELAWARE (professional staff position)

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Anthropology or related field with
three years archaeological field work experience as well as laboratory
experience in analysis, processing and curation of historic and prehistoric
artifacts likely to be recovered from the Middle Atlantic region. Basic
knowledge of regional prehistory and history and experience in management of
an archaeological laboratory. Basic knowledge of artifact conservation
techniques. Excellent supervisory experience and communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide
range of constituencies in a diverse community. Strong verbal and written
communication skills and the ability to present information effectively to
groups. Knowledge and familiarity with University policies and procedures.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and recommended standards
related to safety practices applied to the applicable discipline preferred.
Knowledge of the safety hazards related to the specific discipline and how
those hazards relate to toxicity and worker/student health and safety.
Ability to develop appropriate safety policies for the facility/equipment
users. Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures
specified by equipment/supply manufacturers. 
RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist faculty and students with processing and analyzing
archaeological collections. Instruct and supervise students handling
collections. Maintain and manage Anthropology Department's seven labs.
Conduct research on, organize and maintain archaeological collections.
Manage maintenance of department web page. Act as unit safety officer and
assist administrative staff. Act as public liaison for the department
concerning inquiries of an archaeological nature.
