The Chronicle of Higher Education features a story in its new issue about
the debates in Israel about a series of articles and meetings in which
prominent scholars have argued that  archaeology has demonstrated that the
Bible has little value as a document of history, and that many of the
events described in the Bible did not take place as described. The
Chronicle is sponsoring an online discussion on the issues raised by the
article and invites members of this list to read the article and join the
