ARCHAEOLOGIST

The Louis Berger Group, Inc., (Berger) is seeking applications from
experienced archaeologists to fill position openings at our corporate
office in East Orange, New Jersey and regional offices located in Marion,
Iowa and Washington, DC. We are looking for dedicated, self-motivated
individuals to pursue quality archaeological research in a cultural
resource management context.

Applicants must have an M.A. or Ph.D. in archaeology/anthropology
and at least three years of supervisory work experience performing
background and site-specific research; conducting site assessments,
surveys, evaluations, and data recovery programs; and preparing
technical reports and proposals. Candidates with 5 to 10 years
experience or more are preferred, although exceptional candidates with
less experience will also be considered. Previous experience with
prehistoric and/or historic archaeological resources in one or more of the
following U.S. regions - Northeast, Plains, Midwest, Mid-Atlantic - and
familiarity with federal and state laws, standards, and guidelines, and
Section 106 compliance, is required. In addition to regional specialties,
expertise with GIS, specialized artifact analysis, faunal analysis, or
geoarchaeology is greatly desired.

Berger is a full-service engineering and environmental planning firm with
over 20 domestic and 70 international offices. Ranked among the top 20
P&E consulting firms worldwide, Berger has one of the largest private
cultural resource management divisions in the country, with more than
100
staff. Since its inception in 1981, the Cultural Resource Division has
completed more than 2,700 projects in 49 states. We offer individuals
the
opportunity to work on large, challenging projects, as members of
interdisciplinary teams.

Demanding project schedules require demonstrated proficiency in
research, analysis, writing, organizational, and communication skills and
the ability to work on own initiative. Applicants must be available to
travel to project locations nation-wide, and weekend travel is often
required. Applicants must relocate to the office area.

Competitive salaries are negotiated based on qualifications. These are
full-time, salaried positions, not project or temporary appointments. A
