Maybe the reason for the homogenaeity of the annapolis crew is because it
COSTS over $1,000 for 6 weeks!!!!   I would have loved to go to that
fieldschool, but there was no way that I could afford it, even with a
departmental grant.  Maybe the reason there are no African-Americans in
 archaeology is because to become
an archaeologist you have to spend thousands of dollars to get experience
with a shovel. Now, who in their right mind is going to do that.
