A further note ... the Citro Chemical Company was bought-out by Pfizer
in ca 1947 ... however, I can't find any advertising in any newspapers
or journals for the patent-medicine ciTro after about 1939, so it may
not have survived long after WWII began, if even up until then.

Chemical Company of America announce that Chas. Pfizer & Co., Inc.,
manufacturing chemists of New York, are conducting negotiations with

for the purchase of Citro Chemical Company, Maywood, N.J., a wholly
owned subsidiary of Emerson Drug Company. Citro Chemical Company,
established in 1903, is a manufacturer of caffeine, phenacetin and
acetanilid. For the time being it is intended that the Citro Chemical
Company will function as a separate unit of Pfizer. Operations will
continue under Mr. Walker and his present staff of employees."
