Circulation life is pretty important in archaeological dating and is 
often discussed in dating of hoards etc. but varies through time Try J. 
Casey and R. Reece (eds), Coins and the Archaeologist and  J. Casey, 
Understanding Ancient Coins for an introduction to issues.
