          Hi!

My name is Rod Heitzmann and I am Archaeological Resource Manager
at Parks Canada, Alberta Region in Calgary, Canada. I have a
Master degree in archaeology from University of Calgary. My
research interests in historic archaeology include fur trade,
ranch, pioneer and industrial sites. I am also interested in the
prehistory of the northwestern plains and Rocky Mountains. My
current assignments include providing archaeological direction in
the development of several new National Historic Sites including
Bar U Ranch (Alberta), Gulf of Georgia Cannery and McLean Mill
(British Columbia) National Historic Sites. Each of these has been
selected to commemorate important themes in Canadian History:
western ranching, the West Coast fishing industry and the West
          Coast lumbering industry.

I should add for the edification of non-Canadians subscribers,
Parks Canada is a part of the Government of Canada, Department of
Canadian Heritage equivalent to the US National Parks Service.

          Rod Heitzmann
