Eleanor Casella has done specific work in Tasmania on the Ross Female Factory, a nineteenth-century Australian colonial prison for transported British female convicts, where she sought to "relate the differential distribution patterns within the button assemblage to sexual dynamics of the convict black market."  The paper is in a 2000 issue of World archaeology devoted to "Queer Archaeologies" - volume 32(2).

Greetings,

I am working on a project focusing on LGBTQ history and heritage in the
United States. As an archaeologist, I want to make sure that
archaeological sites and discussion of the potential of LGBTQ sites to
expand our historical understanding are included.
