Greetings all,

Some Histarch'ers might be interested in a book that I have edited that just came out from the University of Alabama Press: "Shovel Ready: Archaeology and Roosevelt's New Deal for America."

Most of the book does focus on pre-contact American Indian archaeology, but there is a chapter by Janet Johnson of The State Museum of Pennsylvania on the development of historical archaeology in Pennsylvania before and throughout the Great Depression.

The book is available at: http://www.uapress.ua.edu/product/Shovel-Ready,5507.aspx

Cheers,

Bernard K. Means
