Hi Iain
A very quickie reply. I understand there are two Hoffman kilns still extant
in N.Z.- a circular one at Ashburton (it closed in 1978- I think it is still
standing) and another at Palmerston North described in "N.Z's Industrial
Heritage" as "the best example still to be seen in this country", because of
its condition & workmanship. I'll be out of town tomorrow but I'll make
inquiries throught the NZHPT and get some further info, dates etc as soon as
I can.
