I find this response VERY distressing. The constituency of this list
is not only historical archaeology professionals and advanced graduate
students. I hate to think that someone's snide and petty remark may
make a college student, school child, or interested party hesitant to
ask a question for fear that they will be chided or publicly
humiliated. This is the type of attitude that stifles the interest of
people who genuinely want to learn, but honestly may not know where to
     start.

One of our mandates as professional archaeologists is to disseminate
what we have learned through our experience to others. This is a
priority that we should all keep in the forefront of our minds when
     answering questions on this list.

The following has struck a nerve. Susan, if you want to know if Folgers
has a can chronology-ASK THEM. If you want references try the library.
As an aside to those who "Teach" please TEACH your students how to get
information. Also, let me guess the paper is due in a week?

To whom it may concern-
I am writing a research paper on the evolution of the Folgers coffee can
lables. Can anyone out there give me some good references and do you know
if the Folgers Co. has a record of their can chronologies?
Thanks for your time.
