Job Description: The Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center seeks a
qualified applicant for the Staff Archaeologist position. MA preferred with
5 years of field/CRM experience. Principle duties include supervising field
research on Mashantucket Pequot Tribal trust and fee lands and serving as
liaison between museum and other tribal departments to preserve and/or
excavate historic and prehistoric sites.

The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge of Northeast history and
prehistory, be able to prepare archaeology site reports and be skilled in
statistical analysis of data using computer programs such as Surfer, Arc
view GIS, and Access database management.

Additional responsibilities include conducting research on archaeological
collections, laboratory analysis and interpretation. The incumbent will
assist with the development and presentation of public programs related to
Pequot archaeology and ethnohistory. These include lectures to various
professional, community and school groups.

 Research skills in faunal analysis, lithic analysis, surveying or other
specialties a plus.
