Greetings,
  My name is Erich Schroeder.  I am an ABD from Texas A&M university.  My
dissertation subject is the frontier development of part of central
Illinois, USA.  In particular I am focusing on the spatial,
environmental, and demographic dimensions of frontier and post-frontier
settlement (roughly 1820-1910).
  My research interests include historical demography, questions of
economic and social ranking, and anything spatial.  I have worked with
ARC/INFO GIS for about 10 years now, and I am interested in modeling
methods, both using archaeological data and bringing documentary data
into the GIS.  I am very pleased that this group is so active.
