Doctoral Student course: Material and Ethnographic Perspectives on Heritage research, 3 credits, in the University of Oulu, 14th - 18th of August, 2017.

Abstract

This doctoral student teaching course supports teaching and doctoral training in the human sciences. Examples will include the instructors' work in the US, which uses ethnography and material culture research to study complicated histories and interpret them in partnership with contemporary communities. The course will also introduce international examples of scholarship from dark heritage, material culture studies, and community-based ethnography that examines histories that may be unrecognized, effaced, or ignored in the contemporary world.
