Seven years before the much publicized maiden voyage of the Titanic, the
Cunard line launched two of the world's largest steamships, the Carmania and
the Caronia. Twenty years ago I came across a photo- and memento-rich diary
of the Carmania's 1905 maiden voyage. I have scanned some of the photos and
items from the diary and combined them with the transcribed text into a web
page at http://www.city-net.com/~davidsr/carmania/carmania.htm. No, it's not
the Titanic (nor is it archaeology or any other type of CRM), but it's an
interesting read and the photos (the page is pretty graphics heavy and will
take slower connections longer to load) are pretty cool.
