Willaim Reger's response regarding the necessary training & etc. of
participants is right on target. However, I disagree that there is no
difference as to the cultural background of
participants--African-Americans do share a different cultural background
than "non-minority" Americans (if that means anything) and can provide a
different perspective. Besides, it doesn't take a whole lot of training
and education to have valid and/or siginifcant opinions on archaeological
interpretations. I think College educations are often over-rated. After
explaining archaeology and archaeological interpretation to "uneducated"
people, I HAVE gotten excellent responses/critiques/opinions from them.
