        The Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory seeks motivated,
qualified individuals for the following positions:

Project Archaeologist, Hampton National Historic Site Archaeological
Project.  The Project Archaeologist will lead a Phase I survey of Hampton,
an agricultural and iron -making plantation located in Towson, Maryland.
The survey strategy will consist of a program of shovel testing.  The
successful applicant should have experience with archaeological survey,
including shovel testing, the use of transits and other survey equipment,
and Middle Atlantic historical archaeology.  The Project Archaeologist will
provide daily supervision in the field and lab for up to three employees and
should have one year supervisory experience.  The Project Archaeologist will
also take the lead in preparing the report and must have demonstrated
writing skills.  B.A. in history, anthropology, American Studies, or related
field required.  This is a short-term, state contractual position with no
benefits.  Hourly rate of $15.43; 40 hour work week.

Archaeological Crew, Hampton National Historic Site Archaeological Project.
The Archaeological Crew (two positions to be filled) will participate in a
Phase I survey of Hampton, an agricultural and iron-making plantation
located in Towson, Maryland.  Crewmembers must be able to excavated shovel
tests, screen soils, and collect and process artifacts according to standard
archaeological procedures.  Outdoor work and physical exertion required.
Some field experience preferred. This is a short-term, state contractual
position with no benefits.  Hourly rate of $9.84; 40 hour work week.
