POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
 
                         STATE ARCHEOLOGIST
                    ARKANSAS ARCHEOLOGICAL SURVEY
 
 
Job Description: The State Archeologist implements public education and
National Register programs for archeology, coordinates survey
preservation activities with federal and state agencies, and serves as
primary liaison between the Survey and the Arkansas Archeological
Society, a state-wide amateur organization.
 
Position and Location: The State Archeologist works with all units of
the Arkansas Archeological Survey from the Coordinating Office in
Fayetteville. Some travel required.
 
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Anthropology, expertise in public education and
National Register Programs. Experience in Southeastern United States
archeology, and teaching and supervisory experience preferred.
 
     Starting Date: June 1, 1999
